The Journey
AVoiceThatTranscends
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Bridget A. Bazile discovered her calling in the rich musical traditions of her hometown — a city where gospel, jazz, and opera converge in the streets and sanctuaries. A graduate of Tulane University and the University of New Orleans, she began touring internationally as a teenager with the legendary Moses Hogan Chorale and later the Moses Hogan Singers — the acclaimed ensembles led by the late New Orleans composer and arranger Moses G. Hogan. As lead soprano, she recorded two albums of Negro Spirituals — works now preserved in the permanent collection of the Bibliothèque nationale de France — and toured Europe alongside Grammy-winning soprano Barbara Hendricks through Greece, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Belgium, including a televised Christmas concert with the I Flamminghi Orchestra at Sint-Jans Cathedral in the Netherlands. A winner of the Leontyne Price Competition, a Metropolitan Opera National Council finalist, and first prize winner of the Meistersinger Vocal Competition in Graz, Austria, Bridget honed a voice that effortlessly bridges the lyrical tradition of opera and the spiritual depth of gospel.
Her artistry has carried her across continents and cultures. In the United States, she has graced the stages of Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall in Chicago, the Kennedy Center, and Alice Tully Hall. Across Spain, she has become a beloved presence over nearly two decades of touring, performing in over fifty venues from the Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao to the Teatro Cervantes in Málaga, and bringing the spirit of New Orleans gospel to all seven Canary Islands — including the remote La Graciosa. Her reach extends to Catalonia's Els Grans del Gospel festival and as far as Andorra. In France, she serves as artist in residence with the Lyon Chamber Orchestra, performing regularly at the Basilica of Fourvière and the Bourse du Travail. Her voice has resonated from the Festival Swing in the Mountains at Serre-Chevalier to the International Festival of Great Voices and Film Music in Cannes, and as far as the World Symposium in Sydney, Australia.
